ode to Aer Lingus
July 23, 2009
We made it to Berlin yesterday, as did our bikes and gear, safe and sound. Many thanks to the Aer Lingus ticket desk clerk who ignored our oversized bike boxes, our one-two-many carry-on bags, and our overweight checked luggage. It took a while to put the bikes back together at the airport, but it provided good entertainment for passersby. Today we saw many of the big sites on a long walk around town. Tomorrow we’re hoping to tune up the bikes and venture out on two wheels–everyone here rides bicycles! Of great importance, we found some excellent bike maps today at a books store in Mitte, including camping sites and swimming holes. Once we figure out what the legends say, I’m sure they will be quite useful. Pictures to be posted soon, I think.

Glad to see everything you have fits on your bikes! I’m looking forward to news (photos) on your first campstove-cooked-meal. D (aka Dad, Don, Mr B, Noami’s dad, …)
